» Donations Update II
Jun 29, 2009 - 9:21 PM - by Obliark
All Services have been paid for thanks to the generous donations recieved by many of our members. You continue to show that the Maturity and brotherhood in KM is second to none. To those that were able to help, it will not be forgotten and we are currently looking into ways of recognition. A breakdown of donation spending and what it has gone towards can be found @ http://www.kingmakersguild.com/forum...ead.php?t=1038.

» Guild Donations Update
Jun 28, 2009 - 6:51 AM - by Obliark
Greatings Guildies!

It's time for another donation to assist with guild funds. In the Past our fund raising results have been overwheling and have been greatly appreciated. This time there will be a slight change in order to provide more members the oppurtunity to donate and make things as clear as possible. We're all adults and appreciate the hard work we each have to do in order to earn money. Below I'll list the changes and some good news, as well as a little possibly bad news.

First In order to make the process more apparent, I'm going to list all the expenses the guild has and where the donations would be going.

$180 Forum Software (Lifetime) (!!PAID OFF!!)
$ 30 Web Host (6 Months)
$ 54 Ventrilo (6 Months)
$ 30 2 Domains (Yearly) Kingmakers.com and Kingmakers.net. We
have purchased Kingmakers.net in efforts to minimize
competition.

Goal for this round is $84 because the domains are paid up until later in the year. Currently 100% To Goal!

Second, the 'bad'. From here on out all services will be purchased at least six months at a time so the donations will become less frequent, but for a greater amount. This will allow more members to contribute whereas only the first few who saw the news on the site got a chance to donate. I know this isn't really bad news, but with what little drama and problems we have, its all that really fits. There is a little more concerning news though that is in the next few weeks I'll be doing a migration of the server host. This means the POSSIBLE although unlikely event of server downtime and database loss. It will however come with a greater upside.

Third, the upside. I already pay for a webhost that provides me with some domain names, which I'm only using two. This means with what I'm already paying every month, I can negate the cost of the Web host and part of the domains. This will bring our yearly cost down from $198 dollars to $123 dollars and allow us more room to fund additional Guild growth in the future.

Lastly I want to end this with a look at our guild and what we've accomplished and the future. Kingmakers was formed back on 11/30/2007 by Gundrik. That puts us at over a year an a half. During that time, we have forged a solid name for ourselves in Warhammer and the dwarf community. At that time, the expectations of what was going to come could not have hoped to been exceeded as well as we have done so far. I have looked back quickly at the old forums we used to use, and I see even today, we have over 10 members who have exceeded a year of service with our guild and countless more who have blown past the 6 month mark. In this age of fast, instant gratification MMO's that is a truly humbling accomplishment for all of us to be able to play with such loyal, mature members. I wanted to assure everyone that we appreciate your loyalty, and you all help make our guild the best Warhammer has to offer. While we are commited to that, I would also like to add we have had many members showing interest in expanding our horizons with Global Agenda, Bloodbowl, and future MMO's. I feel this is a step in the right direction to secure us as not only A great Warhammer guild, but a great Community of players. Thank you for reading I wish everyone Our Kind of Success.

Thank you,
Nicholas "Obliark" Ferruzzi

No need to currently donate, All services paid.

Executive Producer's Letter - Part 3
Jeff Hickman | From the Dev Team | 06/25/2009 @ 00:02:02 EST
Everyone,

It is a time of change and progress here at Mythic. As we move forward, I want you all to know that our love of MMOs, our passion for the games we create, and our commitment to our fans is stronger than ever. Our studio’s strength has always come from its talented and dedicated team; Mythic is full of passionate, committed people who love MMOs and the games they make. I, personally, have been with Mythic for almost 10 years and look forward to what the studio will build and offer fans over the next 10 years!

We are committed to Warhammer, Ultima Online, and Dark Age of Camelot, and have solid plans for each game. I look forward to discussing our plans for of all of these games with you in the near future. This month, as promised, I’d like to start by sharing some more details from our plans for Warhammer’s continued development over the upcoming months.

Over the past few weeks, we've reached out to many individuals and guilds to share their thoughts, and we’ve been digging down into all of the feedback we have received. As I stated last week, these discussions led us to five key goals which will act as our compass in the months ahead. Our five key goals for Warhammer are:
  1. Addressing concerns related to crowd control and area-of-effect abilities.
  2. Continuing to improve client and server stability and performance.
  3. Strengthening and improving the Tier 4 experience.
  4. Improving server population distribution, both in terms of overall population and Realm balance.
  5. Improving itemization and the overall distribution of “carrots” (fun rewards) throughout the game.
We're still working out the specifics, and as always the details are subject to change, but we'll share several examples of what we're planning and will continue to do so as more details for upcoming features come together in the coming weeks. There's a lot to cover, so let's get started!

» Mythic and BioWare Form New RPG/MMO Group
Jun 24, 2009 - 4:47 PM - by tog89
Today we have important news to share with the community. EA is restructuring its RPG and MMO games development into a new group that includes both Mythic and BioWare. This newly formed team will be led by Ray Muzyka, co-founder and General Manager of BioWare. With this change, Ray becomes Group General Manager of the new RPG/MMO studio group. BioWare’s other co-founder, Greg Zeschuk will become Group Creative Officer for the new RPG/MMO studio group. Rob Denton will step up as General Manager of Mythic and report to Ray. BioWare’s studios remain unchanged and continue to report to Ray.

Mark Jacobs, current General Manager of Mythic will leave EA on June 23, 2009. We thank Mark for his contributions at Mythic and wish him the very best going forward. Mark played a major part in the success of Mythic with his contribution as General Manager and Lead Designer of WAR.

Mythic retains a strong team led by Rob who co-founded Mythic in 1995. Rob played a critical role in the development of Dark Age of Camelot. In his previous role as COO, he was responsible for all day-to-day management of the studio including all development, operations and support.

Please join us in celebrating the union of these two award-winning studios.
